Studio Policies
Tuition, Enrollment and Withdrawal
Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. Once enrolled, clients can set up recurring automatic payments that will be taken out each month. Should the client opt out of the automatic payments, they will need to pay by check or credit card on the 1st of the month. No cash will be accepted. There is a $25 penalty for any late payments or declined credit cards.
To enroll in classes, registration forms can be submitted at the studio or through e-mail prior to attendance of the first class. It is crucial that each new parent and student is aware of our studio policies in order to maintain the standard of excellence that Rise Academy of Dance strives to uphold. Once a child is registered for a class and their first month's tuition has been paid, his/her spot is held in that class for the remainder of the year (from the date that the registration form is signed through the last class in June). Our summer session has a separate enrollment as the number of classes are reduced and summer camps are added to the schedule.
If withdrawing from a class, you will need to let the studio know before the 1st of the month; otherwise, you will still be responsible for paying for that month’s classes.
Etiquette
Dance Training is built on standards that reflect respect and professionalism. These standards include arriving on time, adhering to our dress code, listening to instructors, and displaying courtesy to your fellow classmates, teachers, and parents.
Talking, eating, chewing gum, hanging on barres, and sitting on the floor of the dance room are not allowed during class time.
For our younger dancers, please use the restroom before class begins, as it is disruptive to have students coming in and out of the room while the other students are learning.
Please inform the instructor prior to class starting about any injuries, illnesses, allergies, or special needs that require specific attention.
Come to class prepared to work hard, and with a positive attitude. Encourage your children to practice at home, so that the students can make the most of their class time and can progress at a faster rate.
Class Arrival and Pick-Up
Please arrive promptly to class. It is recommended that students arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the start of class so they can properly store their belongings, change into their dance shoes, and warm up. If class has already begun, it is up to the teachers discretion whether or not the student may enter and participate in the rest of class, or if they should watch for the remainder of the time. This policy is in place to prevent injuries.
Please make sure your child is picked up within 10 minutes after the end of their class. Our receptionist and instructors are not there to monitor unattended children.
For our youngest students under the age of 5, please make sure they have a parent/guardian accompanying them for the entire length of the class time. Should there be a situation requiring outside assistance, such as a restroom break, it is necessary to have someone there for the child while the instructor keeps the class moving forward.
Attendance and Make-Up Policies
Regular attendance is crucial for the development of strong dancers and the progression of group choreography. Please do your best to attend all scheduled classes and rehearsals as absences can hinder the progress of the entire group. If a student misses a class, he/she can make it up in a similar class of the same level within one month of the absence. A courtesy call to the studio to inform them of the absence ahead of time would be much appreciated.
Please note that absences do not reduce tuition rates.
Student Assessment
The students’ instructor will do assessments at the first class of the year, once in the middle of the year, and again at the last class of the year. These assessments are done to ensure that the student is progressing at the correct pace for their current level. Parents are welcome to make an appointment to discuss their child’s progress with the instructor throughout the year.
Parent Observation
Parents are not allowed in the dance room while classes are going on, except on the pre-scheduled observation days. Parent observations will take place at the end of each quarter, and will be announced on our website in the calendar section. On observation days, parents will be invited in to watch the last 5-10 minutes of class to see their children’s progress. On all other class days, parents are free to take advantage of our observation window. Please make sure that observers (parents, siblings, etc.) are not distracting the children in class.
Substitution
Rise Academy of Dance reserves the right to hire a substitute teacher should the regularly scheduled instructor be unable to teach class due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances.
